The Art of Street Photography

The Art of Street Photography

There are "street" photographers that focus more on the face, others that focus more on “the decisive moment”, others that focus on still lives, and others that focus on unusual or canny situations in public. It sounds so complicated, but don't let that frighten you, anyone can go on to the street and take a photograph, thats the great thing about street photography, you can do it just pick up your camera wether it be the camera in your phone or the latest and most expensive  Lica. It is instinctual, spontaneous and candid, which can mean that the subjects at the time are not aware that they are being photographed, and the subjects are always people who are strangers.  But there are no rules to say you cant do this or that, we walk the streets of our citys, towns, villages and parks never knowing what you are going to come across, how many time hve you said to your self, .... I wish I had my camera.  Some say Street Portraiture is not accepted as true street photography, it;s not spontaneous, and I can see there point of view, but I also disagree, there are so many wonderful and fascinating faces on the streets of the world, and you would not of come across them without walking the streets. Most of all the past masters have done both, there spontaneous work is fantastic, but there street portraiture is just as amazing. Don't ever be frightened to ask a stranger if you can take there photograph, they can only say no........
